Vlkslotzi / Field notes
Disclaimer
A page can describe a mountain. It cannot take account of the ground under your feet today.
Reading is not route preparation
Vlkslotzi offers informational reading about terrain, signs and quiet observation. It does not provide instructions for hazardous-terrain travel, snow travel, river crossing, climbing, rescue or wildlife handling. A route-like drawing is an illustration of features, not a surveyed path, access permission or navigational aid.
Conditions change with rain, thaw, wind, forestry work and seasonal closures. A picture may show an imagined landscape or a moment unlike the conditions now present. Check current forecasts, local park and land-manager rules, closures and reliable maps before going outdoors. Seek competent local instruction where your plans require skills you do not have.
Animals are not a checklist
Tracks, scat and sounds can be misidentified. Similarities between a wolf and a large dog make isolated clues especially uncertain. The journal’s descriptions are not a diagnosis of an animal, a basis for handling remains or a reason to pursue a trail.
Never approach a den, rendezvous site, injured animal, carcass or feeding animal. Do not touch or collect scat. Do not bait, call, corner or try to move wildlife for a photograph. A distance mentioned in a page is not a guarantee of safety or freedom from disturbance; greater distance or complete withdrawal may be necessary.
Working land and protected places
Respect livestock, guardian dogs, fences and private property. Local access and dog-control requirements can differ across a border, a valley or a season. The rules issued for the place take priority over a general note here.
A landscape description does not establish a right of entry. Keep a safe alternative and the option to turn back.
Illustration and uncertainty
Some images are original generated illustrations with a photographic appearance. They are not evidence of a particular animal, sighting or named location, and a depicted track is not an identification reference. The ridge sketch is fictional. Traditional stories and regional words are cultural context, not zoological findings.
Errors can survive careful reading. Please send a correction with a source if a detail is wrong. For an urgent safety or animal-welfare concern, contact the appropriate local authority directly rather than waiting for a reply here.
