The use of a field note

Pages are offered for personal reading and reference. They bring together observations and explanations about mountain landscapes, animal sign and the stories people attach to wolves. A detail may be incomplete, disputed or out of date; no page promises a sighting, a safe outing or an identification.

Do not use a sketch, photograph or description here as the basis for entering hazardous terrain or approaching wildlife. Read the outdoor disclaimer before relying on any field-related material.

Words and pictures

Original text, drawings and visual arrangements are protected by applicable copyright law. You may link to a page and use brief attributed quotations where the law permits. Republishing substantial material, extracting an image collection or presenting the journal’s identity as your own requires permission unless a legal exception applies.

Material supplied by others may carry separate rights. A place name, traditional word or factual statement does not become exclusive to the journal merely because it appears here.

Notes entrusted to the journal

Send only material you are entitled to share. A message gives us permission to read it, reply and use the factual correction it proposes. It does not transfer ownership of an original photograph or grant permission to publish private correspondence; we would seek separate permission where needed.

Do not send threats, unlawful content, deceptive claims, personal details about others or precise locations of sensitive wildlife sites. The contact form is for individual correspondence, not automated promotion.

Keeping the path usable

Do not attempt to break access controls, overload the site, inject code or misuse the form to distribute unwanted messages. Access may be limited to protect the site or its readers. Pages and features can change or become unavailable without notice.

Beyond this site

A reference or external link is offered for context. The destination’s operator is responsible for its own material, access conditions and privacy practices. Check the date and local applicability of any advice before using it.
